convert.express is an AI-powered audio and video transcription service. Our contact address is support@convert.express.

• Account data — if you register, we store your email address and a reference to your account (managed by Clerk). We do not store your password.
• Audio and video files — files you upload for transcription. These are stored temporarily and deleted automatically 24 hours after your last activity.
• Usage records — minutes of audio or video transcribed per day, used to apply your free daily quota and calculate pay-as-you-go charges.
• Payment data — if you pay for a transcription, the transaction is processed by Stripe. We do not store your card details.
• Session data — an anonymous session token stored in a cookie so you can view your transcription results without creating an account.

• To provide the service — transcribing your audio or video and returning results.
• To manage your quota — tracking daily usage to apply the 10-minute free tier.
• To process payments — calculating and collecting pay-as-you-go charges via Stripe.
• To maintain session continuity — linking your uploaded files to your browser session so you can reload the results page.

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond operating the service.

We process your personal data on the basis of contract performance (providing the transcription service you requested) and legitimate interests (preventing abuse, maintaining security). Payment processing is subject to Stripe's own legal basis and privacy policy.

• Audio files and transcripts — deleted 24 hours after your last activity.
• Usage records — retained for 90 days for billing and dispute resolution, then deleted.
• Account data — kept for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time, which removes all associated data.
• Session cookies — expire after 24 hours.

We share data only with the following processors, strictly to deliver the service:

• Clerk — authentication and account management.
• OpenAI — audio and video transcription via the Whisper API. Files are sent to OpenAI's API and not used to train their models under the API terms.
• Stripe — payment processing.
• Cloud storage provider — temporary storage of uploaded files and transcripts.

No data is sold or shared with any other third parties.

We use only essential cookies — no tracking, advertising, or analytics cookies. The cookies we set are:

• ce_session — an anonymous session token that links your browser to any jobs you submit without an account. HttpOnly, expires in 24 hours.
• Clerk authentication cookies — set by Clerk to manage your signed-in session. These are strictly necessary for the login feature to work.

Because all cookies are strictly necessary for the service to function, no consent banner is required under the ePrivacy Directive.

Under GDPR you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you.
• Correct inaccurate data.
• Delete your data (right to erasure).
• Object to processing based on legitimate interests.
• Data portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format.

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page reflects the latest revision. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
